When I ditched cable I just built a half-badass PC that runs in the living room 100% as an HTPC and dedicated gaming rig so I do all my PC gaming as a couch gamer. I really wanted to like the steam controller, I forced myself to use it for a couple weeks but I just couldn't get a feel for it - the controller is too bulky, the track pad always frustrated me and reminded me I'd rather have a right analogue stick... I seemed to spend more time dinking around with the controller settings than I did actually gaming.

Only death will take my 360 controller from me!

Oh I only use the steam controller for certain games, like an RPG but I have to re-learn it almost every time. It's certainly not the ideal "gaming" experience. But I prefer to use the steam controller in desktop mode when it's being streamed to my TV. It's super useful as I dont have a wireless keyboard and mouse, and at that point I dont want a kb+m on my couch also.
