A high enforcement rate would be preferable to stiff penalties. If Trump's right that 4M people illegally voted, that's a lot of 5 year sentences!

Exactly. This is just a ploy to make it seem like the shit is harshly enforced. Meanwhile millions of spics are voting with library cards in california

Plenty of us are felons too lol. I am one and I've talked to a few others on here. If you think a 5 year DoC sentence is reasonable for this crime then you're part of the problem. This kind of shit destroys lives and facilitates permanent criminal behavior. It's not justice in any way shape or form, justice for some is justice for none.

Edit: point out the flaws in the justice system and watch "conservatives" instantly transform into government worshipping advocates of the prison industrial complex. Happens every time.

It sounds like you are trying to shift the responsibility away from criminals and on to society. Do you know what facilitates criminal behavior more than punishments? The criminal acts of criminals.

I don't think its worth 5 years but it should certainly be punished. If you've lost your right to legally vote, don't fucking vote.

I detest the concept of felons having their rights removed because if basically removes their ability to affect the laws that put them in that position. Even if the laws are completely unjust

Hey guys, I'm a felon. Now let me lecture you on the meaning of justice and explain why you are the problem.

Gotta say, that's pretty ironic. Kind of like when that whore and that faggot decided to get on TV to lecture everyone on morality.

I'd be curious what exactly you did to earn that status but, short of being wrongfully convicted or being the victim of some serious legal bullshit, I can't really think of anything that would make this reasonable.

Under Obama she would have been given a medal of accomplishment.

Is that one step up from the Medal of Participation President Obama received in 2009?

The majority on this site are just variations of SJW's, they don't mind injustice as long as it's committed against people they don't like.

There are a surprising amount of "line them up against the wall" types here. I think they're mostly feds.

How about one year and deportation immediately after?

Considering that voting is how people decide what sort of direction their nation takes I'd say 5 years is actually about right.

BUT if what I just read is true and she isn't bullshitting. Why the fuck aren't people informed what sort of conditions they need to meet in order to vote. I'm not American so I don't know your system but after learning that she isn't on the registered voter list doesn't that warrant someone working at the polling station paying a little more attention.

Maybe she is lying but if she isn't either someone else fucked-up or the system needs some tweaking. It shouldn't be too hard to quickly explain what disqualifies you from voting.

She used a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot is used when there is uncertainty about the ability to vote. If it is determined thatthey can, then it is counted. If they can't, it isn't. What's the point of having that if you go to jail if you're not allowed to vote? They should have just tossed the ballot, not put her in jail. Why bother having provisional ballots if that is the result?

If someone is found to have voted illegally, they should stay in prison at least until whoever wins the election they fraudulently voted in is out of office.

President: 8 years max or 4 if you're lucky.

Congress: You'd better hope they aren't popular...
