Online sources list them as being used through the 1960s. I believe it. Remember militaries are huge and rarely ever just throw guns away entirely. SKS rifles were issued to rearline troops for decades after the AK was adopted too.
I was always curious about the 2-piece receiver (or, rather, barrel shroud separated from the receiver). On the standard PPS in Soviet inventory, the receiver and shroud are one stamping. I suspect it's where part kits were cut when imported into the U.S.
