I think they were driven here at a time when Putts asked nicely not to be complete assholes to whomever may be new to the site. There are certainly some undesirable elements included, but we may also get some decent goats out of the deal.

If I may put on my conspiritard hat for a moment: Putts talking about Voat withering on the vine without new users and his hints about why the new voting system is important (think: automation of moderation) lead me to wonder if he's looking for a way to make Voat reasonably stable and then somehow divest himself of it. I personally couldn't imagine being chained forever to the little site that could with the huge amount of time commitment and instant access required.

True.

Maybe he thought it would pay out monthly but hasn’t and like you said the extra headaches are worth getting rid of.

It’s a nice resume filler!

Unless the prospective boss actually checks out the site, and the front page says GAZZZ THE KIKES 4 DRUMPFFFF! I guess it depends on who the boss is.

That's one of the main features of free speech, people are going to tell you what they want to tell you. Back when the other site was thought to or maybe even did have free speech, these kinds of subs were set up. As the other site has become more totalitarian and nixed them, they naturally sought out the same kind of environment that they originally started in: and I think this site hits closer than any others. That's how I imagine the majority of us ended up here.

Love it or hate it, it finds it's way here. I certainly don't want to be advertised to here, even if it's for cheap ammo, but it's far more comforting knowing it's at least allowed here than knowing it's not. I used to downvoat any kind of marketing/promotional post I saw, but everything is much grayer now. I just ignore the posts or outright block subs.

Advertising isn’t really what most people would call free speech — it’s more like free advertisement.

I wouldn't really call if that either, but I think it goes with the territory. You cover your house with honey and bears will come.

Why would you buy that on voat?

I can hit up a gun shop and a pharmacy instead.

The pharmacy here in question is darknetweb stuff.
