Try crocheting with cotton in the summer, or doing things with an openwork type pattern—less heavy and itchy. I started crocheting this set of table mats last July when it was 90+ degrees and it was not bad at all. http://freevintagecrochet.com/free-doily-patterns/dritz20/fiesta-doily-pattern

That's a good idea!!

I need to try fine crocheting, I have done very large projects like rugs etc but never fine work. The finest I have done is actual lace with pins and a cushion looking similar to this setup ->https://kek.gg/i/4mhsCY.jpeg

Which ends up looking something like this with all the pins in holding the lace in place-> https://kek.gg/i/FnZ_j.jpeg

But keeping all your threads from not tangling with kids and animals is an interesting task. I am going to take up your handy suggestion as one can crochet some mighty fine looking lace and I am a bit partial lace :)

Wow, your lace looks great! And another nice thing about making crochet doilies and such, the end result looks impressive but really it’s pretty easy, it’s mostly just chains and treble crochet. Freevintagecrochet.com has lots of nice vintage patterns.
