These tariffs are never going to end. China will still sell their metal. They will sell it as finished goods (like cars and equipment) where the steel itself isn't tariffed. Then we will have to tariff the finished goods to avoid loss of jobs caused by this, but which finished goods? Really the only option will be all of them.
Because China's connected steel industry will continue to try to compete (they aren't going to just shut down the plants) we are going to see more competition in manufacturing. Plus cheap steel and labor abroad.
