A child subconsciously rejects a fat toy - this despite the mom's clear attempts at having brainwashed her into fat acceptance from an early age and making the CHILD fat too. What more evidence do we need that our most primal brain wiring recognizes fat as diseased?

I always wondered that too. There are many theories as to why obesity is such a strong and pervasive stigma that cannot be eradicated. I think it has a biological origin - fat is disease and fat is too costly to maintain when resources are limited.

My sister is married to a fat man-child for some reason. They have a one year old daughter. When the dad is holding her, she wants me to hold her instead. Maybe just because I remind her of her mother, but I have had the thought myself that it might be because her dad is a sickly slob and that is disturbing to her.

Aw geez, poor kid.
I can say that I recall very clearly as a little kid (5 yo) starting to become disgusted by my dad's bad breath, and trying to avoid being held by him for that reason. So I wouldn't be surprised if your niece is doing exactly as you suspect.

I paused. I was speechless. I honestly felt some tears start welling in my eyes. I related to this inanimate object.
So yeah, a fat Barbie is not really for the kids, but for the fat moms who want their fatness to be validated. Scrolled down a saw a picture of the daughter - yep, gotta fatten her up too. Then it won't feel so lonely when you can both lose your feet together!

I remember her selling some chub rub junk on IG, apparently she uses it on her daughter too, teehee.

Yeah...I'm going to call bullshit on that story and pictures. I like how it's perfectly facing up on top of the trash. I hardly doubt her kid actually said those things. Anything for attention and fat positivity. Btw, it's pretty pathetic that a grown ass woman "tearing up" over a fucking toy.

All made up for attention. Completely pathetic.

Why are hams always making up these sort of stories at the expense of their children?
[–] Scooter_Death 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
Jealousy. Ham-mom wants the girl to be as miserable and unattractive as she is, with food as her only comfort and love. I wish that child luck, she’ll need it.

Kids seem to have a natural predisposition against fat/obesity. That's what makes me think it's a protective mechanism programmed into us through millions of years of evolution.
But parenting isn’t easy. And if we want to raise a new generation of body confident children, then it STARTS AT HOME. It starts with us as parents stepping up to the plate and asking : am I being the example that I want my child to follow? Am I being aware of the things my child sees on a daily basis? Am I taking the time to explain what they are seeing or having hard conversations to help aid in a well rounded and realistic understanding of their body and other’s bodies?
The fat addresses some good points, but not the way it thinks. Good dietary habits start at home. If you want your kids to be healthy and have a healthy weight, you need to model that behaviour for them. Make healthy home-cooked meals and stay active together as a family. Teach your kids how to cook, how to swim, how to ride a bike. If you're sitting around on your ass stuffing your face constantly, your kids will emulate that and end up as fat as that girl in the photo.

This kid was on its way to have a confident body image. All it needed to do was follow natural urges to reject fat. It will now grow to have insecurities and poor body image only because you have brainwashed with contradictory information.

I had never seen a "naked" Fat Barbie before. The thighs are grotesque... Do Fat Barbie's thighs squeak when they rub together as she "walks"? They didn't make Fat Barbie when I was a kid, but 10/10 I would throw it into the trash too.
Ok, and now for my parenting rant... because I just can't stand bad parenting in general anyway... The dialogue between mother and child here shows a stable, critical thinking child and a psychologically diseased woman. The child, when confronted with the question of why she threw out Fat Barbie, responds with a fantastically supported argument: objective reasons (legs aren't right) with physical proof (no other outfits fit). Basically: why keep this Barbie around if it can't be interchanged with the other Barbies (that's basically the whole point of Barbies anyway: changing the clothes around before visiting Ken at the Barbie Mansion). The mother responds with projecting her own fat ass self onto this inanimate object. I totally get the beauty of metaphors, but the thing is that metaphors are supposed to make one reflect and grow in a deeper understanding. If a metaphor makes one crawl into a deeper hole of denial and simultaneous self-righteousness, then you're dealing with a narcissist. Like this one. Mom then gives the inanimate object "feelings". This is a sure-fire way to create a materialistic human being: endow things with "feelings", and then things (food) get placed on the same plane of importance as people who have actual feelings. The mother proceeds to force the daughter through leading questions/manipulation to clean off Fat Barbie and play with her again. This is an encroachment of what little true autonomy children have. Seemingly no big deal, repeated and intensified acts like this can cause unhealthy "enmeshment" syndromes and personality disorders in kids as they grow into adults. Some people recognize these unhealthy patterns and can break out of them as adults. However, considering how this Ham-mom is showcasing her and her kid's personal lives on the internet for all to applaud, the conditioning is going to be very thick indeed to break through. Good luck to this poor kid.

A fat woman in a thin women’s world? What’s that supposed to mean? Has she looked around recently? That poor kid is growing up brainwashed and confused. And likely fat, like her mother.
