300 rounds and magazines along with the weapons they are fired from and gear to carry all of it is a lot of extra weight. When I was enlisted in the USMC, I was issued six 30 round magazines (180 rounds), so 200 is more than a Marine goes into combat with from 1999-2003.
60 rounds for the rifle (two 30 round mags) and 50 (I don't know how many mags that would be) for the handgun should be more than enough for 90% of situations encountered daily. If you need more than that, you need to go to a range and get more practice or go for a hunt.
