Saw that happen with 8ch when the first exodus from 4chan happened. There was a ton of shitposting and elitism for the first few weeks. Once the cancer posts started dropping everything became rather normal (by chan standards). And I expect Voat will deal with the same. Give it about 2-3 weeks, once the new car smell starts to wear off.

Oh god. Maybe I don't want this place to get super big? I just didn't want to be on Reddit because Reddit sucks.
I was actually perfectly content with where we were a week ago.

That sucks. I didn't downvote you btw.
So there Is nothing about Reddit you would change except the censorship?

I decided to check voat out and might do that boycott thing tomorrow but right now it just feels like a second reddit to me. That isn't a bad thing and I appreciate some of the features here that reddit lacks, but I think that the sites are too similar for one to feel significantly different from the other.

People can't really say Voat is all that and reddit is total shit, they're basically the same site the difference is leadership. I haven't been around Voat long enough to see how admins act, so i'm reserving judgement until a serious problem shows up.

Bashing reddit? I think they were trying to bash censorship, no? They don't seem to care for the new CEO much either.
Part of what made Reddit good was the diversity of content. Once they started pasteurizing and homogenizing it became jejune. I welcome exposure to people and viewpoints I disagree with, and may have an initial dislike to. It's much more interesting that way, and if all you want is an echo-chamber of similar-thinking people, you can restrict yourself to the select subverses that sing your song.

I fully expect this place to become a "Reddit Jr." The difference will be in how the administrators and moderators deal with the users. I feel like Reddit has rolled out the iron fist to swing the banhammer rather than deal with underlying problems whereas Voat has a chance to do things differently.
