I'm probably heartless, but my ideal scenario for health care would be to give fat people one chance to lose weight. If they don't do it, they have to pay for all health-related expenses out of their own pocket.

Said it on here a million times: Over 350 lbs, no fire, ambulance, medical, police or EMT care. Period. It should be THE LAW
[–] AlanTuringsGhost 0 points 3 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago
No doubt fats think they are entitled to the healthy spines of hot/fit EMTs.

There was an episode of My 600 lb Life where the obeast was being carried out of her home by 6 or 7 firemen and was giggling and saying shit like "Can you carry me over your heads like Cleopatra? Tee hee!" and just having a great time while those men looked like they were in pain.

I've seen it happen. I work in an allied healthcare profession and saw a ham try and get out the treatment chair, go over, and gram a colleagues arm on the way down. My colleague's shoulder was FUBARd and she was off work for weeks.

This is why I absolutely am against socialized, single payer, mandatory health care. Morons get obese, eat tide pods, do "harmless" recreational drugs and then expect those of us with function brains who actually contribute to society to pay for the health care and subsidize their useless fucking "women's studies" or "SJW" related degrees. Fuck you , you piece of trash, roll up your sleeves go to work, lose weight and pay for your own shit
[–] SleepyCicada 3 points 6 points 9 points (+9|-3) ago
That’s Canada for ya. 20K out of my pocket per year gone to the taxman to treat consequences of HAES.
[–] Mike_1990_tx 5 points 3 points 8 points (+8|-5) ago (edited ago)
Ouch. This is why i can't take Euro trash or flannel backs(ha Canadians get it?) seriously when they start with that , muh free healthcare. Nothings free. Someone is paying and it's folks like you and me who actually make a good living that everyone is envious of

I doubt that your blanket statement is really valid. For example, off the top of my head, Japan is a single payer socialized healthcare country, and they are shitlords to the extreme.
If you’re going to do it, you just gotta do it right. If you can’t trust yourself or the people you elected to do it, then find/elect someone who will.
Simply saying that it doesn’t work is a cop-out.

And wealthy Japanese people come to the USA for risky procedures

I think socialized everything can work given two-unlikely-to-ever-happen-in-my-lifetime things. 1) There are high but reasonable expectations for receiving benefits and 2) there is no systematic corruption (aka food stamps being used for whatever people lobby for instead of what food people should be eating.)
[–] Wuttier 1 point 3 points 4 points (+4|-1) ago
That doesn't fix it. What we need to do is elect the proper people in power that know the value of exercise, the dangers of sugar and modified food, conscription when you're 18-25, proper education and reevaluate Hitler's dream for Germany.
Or, just have civil war and let Darwinism fix the issue.

How? Most hate it. Can’t remember the stats but certainly over 50% are not happy about taking care of fat patients. Doctors are the worst shitlords out there. Of course we all have sensitivity training and know how to tread carefully but I’m yet to see a nurse happy with her immobile 300lb assignment, a surgeon happily anticipating a CSection on a morbidly obese woman, or an anesthetist who is overly excited about intubating someone without a neck. It’s just more work, more stress, more opportunity for personal injury and liability. Plus for those of us who aren’t jaded yet, seeing someone young suffer complications way too untimely for their biological age is ...sad. What really sucks is that you cannot refuse care on the grounds of morbid obesity even when you know it’s going to cost you your back. Administration doesn’t really give many shits about proper staffing and a smaller hospital isn’t going to be able to afford an expensive bariatric lift. So it’s all on us. Do the fats care about the damage they inflict on fellow humans? Most don’t. I have to get back into strength training because I only have one back and a few kids to support for years to come.

Fat women especially disgust me. We should hand out fines for fatness like we do with parking tickets or littering.

It's funny/enraging because this is very similar to the rule for drug addicts (USA). You can get help for a rehab i think a max of 2 times, but if you don't keep yourself clean you pay for the whole thing out of pocket next time (which of course most cant do).
You obv need to have mental problems AND food addiction problems to get to a certain size, why treat the fatasses better than the any-other-kind-of-addicts??

A few weeks ago I had to go to the ER. First time in over a decade I even needed a DR for anything.
The one thing I noticed was that there were a lot of fit, hot nurses and this one female doctor is smoking hot. They were so fucking friendly and seemed genuinely happy and very professional. Then there were these 2 obese nurses and you could see the look in their faces like they just hate life, they hate themselves and they hate everything. They were walking around super slow and sulky, you could just feel the difference.
[–] ArcherSaurusRex 0 points 15 points 15 points (+15|-0) ago
They were probably so sulky because they can't help constantly seeing how superior their fit coworkers are.

Reminds me of a weight loss success story I saw a while back.
The woman wrote this piece about how she noticed everyone treating her better after she lost a lot of weight, and for a while that pissed her off. But then she started to pay attention, and think about it more, and was like "oh shit, people are being better to me because I'm being better to them". She realized that because she always felt like shit, and felt like shit about herself, she [sometimes]subtly took it out on those around her.
If only more of them would realize this shit.
