It's hard to take anyone seriously who thinks Europe is one single entity and labels it all trash Grab a map sometime, it's actually a series of individual countries. You don't get free healthcare in Europe just because you're part of the EU when you travel, you still need insurance to cover yourself. Surprise, the NHS doesn't cover Europe.
The thing people like you don't get is that when you need medical care, socialised healthcare is there for you, full stop. This means you get in a car accident, have a child or get something like cancer, you will be treated with the full extent of medical care required without being lumped with a debt that frankly is fucking hilarious. Sure, there are people that take the piss. There's people that take the piss regardless in anything, that's just human nature - we're all twats. But when you are fucked to the fucked mate, at least I know I will actually live and not be carted off because "my insurance doesn't cover it". Or, you know, life happens and I lose my job, I won't be lumped with thousands because I tripped and twisted my ankle or something dumb.
Let me see: I have a job, I live in the capital, I don't live at home and I go out a few times a week. Does it feel great to know that if I got shanked outside a London pub I'll be alright? Yeah it does. Do I 'pay' for it? Suppose you gotta look at it like a forward payment, I already paid for it so yeah why not. But chances are if I get something big time that requires a lot of medical treatment, I probably never will pay for it through my taxes. Swings and roundabouts, luck of the draw. Not my fault if you can't understand that.

And it's good that you work, pay your taxes and have a "forward payment" but that's only ideal of everyone pulls their weight(no pun intended) you and I pay taxes, and you're going to tell me you're ok with the worthless who're pumping out babies, the junkie ODing for the 4th time, and of course as is the theme, obese "disabled" individuals taking our hard earned money? That doesn't bother you at all? You're ok paying for others piss poor life choices. And remember there's a reason why people from countries with "free" health care who can afford it always go to the US for things. Because our healthcare is second to none. Not my fault you can't understand that.

If it wasn't for Canada's Healthcare system both me and my sister would have died from Childhood Cancer. Atleast kids stand a chance of surviving unlike USA. 1 of my drugs was 900 bucks a dose. My older sister required an 16 hr surgery to get rid of the tumor in her sinus cavity pushing on her brain.

I’m glad it works for you. I could have saved the said 20K+ per year for my own family’s needs. Accidents, critical illness and such are covered through life and disability insurance and for me personally lack of employment is not being sacked by some random asshole, it’s a lack of need for a medical practitioner in my community.

Your 20k would not cover shit all if it came to a serious medical condition ie cancer. Time to get a real job if you are only paying 20k in taxes. Your private healthcare would also cover fuck all for treatment costs. Life and disability insurance has so many loop holes to prevent payouts.

Now, take Frank. He is a 65 year old obese man with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, diabetic retinopathy (eye problems) and diabetic foot complications. He’s lost a couple of toes already and another couple are now gangrenous. He continues to smoke (I tried quitting!), drinks a couple of Pepsi cans per day (i just love me some Pepsi) and doesn’t take his medications regularly because he forgets. He’s been counseled by multiple people for the past 20 years about lifestyle choices but clearly is not listening. He requires frequent follow up appointments to monitor his blood work and blood pressure, home visits from a nurse to check on his toes and change his dressings, ophthalmology appointments, diabetic foot exams and a surgical consult for a possible 2nd amputation. Frank actually enjoys going places to see doctors and nurses because he feels like he is taking care of his health. Also the receptionists are nice and it’s a sunny day outside so why not. And of course, all of Frank’s medical care is completely ‘free’. And this goes on for years until Frank passes away.

As soon as it's "free" everybody is going to start using it.
