It started out that way. Then the 19th amendment happened. Then the 22nd. Now it functions more as a democracy than a republic. And the communists in charge are loving it, because for a very long time, "democracy" has been code for "classless society".

Shit, this is what public school teachers say. From first grade all the way through high school graduation, they tell us "The USA is a 'democratic republic'!" I had never heard the phrase "constitutional republic" until AFTER graduation. The word democracy is thrown around like it's some sacred rite, when it's really a very ugly word that means "mob rule decides what's best for the individual". It's actually a terrifying system to live under, especially if you're surrounded by incompetent people.

"Democracy" has been codespeak for "classless society" for about 200 years. Before that, it was just regarded as idiocy. See: Pluto, and Cicero, I think.
