Based on the article, Facebook's legal team did not seem to offer a strong defense. Their statement seems to give lots of room to be countered by the defendant's lawyer.

Not that I support Facebook in this agreement or anywhere else, but this:

is some bullshit.

The big assumption here is that Facebook in any way owes you the right to use its free service. It’s their website. They agreed to no contract stating they had to accommodate you in any way.
This is bad publicity for Facebook and may cause more people to turn away from it, but they don’t legally owe this man anything.
