There's more to it than that. If he is missing several meals a day his metabolism may have become retarded. So the key is to eat many small, meals preferably of proteins and vegetables, to get the body out of starvation mode.

The body can be trained but it requires dedication it takes a lot of bad habits to get fat and it takes even more work and effort to unfat ourselves.
