I finally meandered down the stairs and gave that a listen. I like how you give zero fucks about editing out mistakes. You're just like, "Imma run with this bitch, anyhow."

I'm kind of the exact opposite. I strive for note-for-note recreation, faithful to the original studio recording, and don't let a whole lot of mistakes make it to the public forums of the world wide web. Don't get me wrong - I make many, many mistakes. I just spent a while learning to edit them out and I've got plenty of free time in which to do multiple takes until I get it right.

Sometimes - probably more often than not - I'm happy with my first take. However, some of the stuff that I share is the product of many hours. Some of them may have had a dozen restarts and another half dozen full cuts. Once in a while, I'll take the time to actually edit out the mistakes and put multiple pieces together. But, I'm not very good at that. It's actually much faster for me to just re-record it.

Shh! That's my secret. I kind of suck at getting it timed just right and cutting and mixing. I wish I were faster, but I'm not. It's pretty new to me and I'm entirely unschooled at it. So, it's usually faster if I just record it all over again. I need to start some sort of cue system - so that I can have markers that make editing easier. I play with a metronome - almost always. I wonder if I can figure out how to increment the counts and take the signal and add a silent marker to the audio files? This would make editing them easier. I may not have the greatest ear for tonality - but I can hear when there's a slight change in the beat and I notice when there's a mistake in the timing of an edit. (Which is why it takes me forever to edit stuff.)

Yep. That was just a single take, mistakes and all. Im the same way as you with fixing mistakes, it's easier to just start playing from the beginning again.

It has a style all its own - your tracks. It's a very much sound like, "I'm going to do what I want and I really don't give a shit if you don't like it."

I'm in the process of researching and writing a series of articles that you may be interested in - it's based on a Voat conversation and a long-standing bit of a bee in my bonnet. (Assuming, of course, that I wore bonnets...) Then again, it's technically also based on an almost-long-standing conversation I've had on Voat and other sites.

You may have seen me rant about it before - it's best to not get me started. The short version is Jimi Hendrix was awarded Guitarist of the Century. This infuriates me and has bothered me for nearly 20 years. I've had that discussion many times. Based on a Voat conversation, one had a half dozen times with @cynicaloldfart, I'm correcting this. I'm actually moving right along on it. I'm writing an article (technically, maybe a series of articles) that correct this stupidity.

Seriously, don't get me started on my rant. It goes on for hours, once I'm started. Jimi was a fine artist and not even the worst guitarist to reach stardom. He's just in no way qualified for the accolades that establish him as being worthy of such a title as "Guitarist of the Century." His inclusion even on a list for consideration shows that the magazine (Rolling Stone) is pretty much entirely inept and full of drunkards with absolutely no skill of their own. (And that includes critical thinking skills, not just guitar skills.)

No, I stopped at Thick as a Brick. I'll give that a listen in a bit. I've got a sleigh missus beside me, I'm on a tablet, and I'm not actually sure where my headphones are. Well, I know where there are some, but I usually have a pair on my nightstand. Maybe an alien stole 'em, because they are missing. Not that they'd do me much good, as this is an iPad and SoundCloud needs Flash, which an iPad doesn't support.

The missus wanted attention, so I've been busy. But, that's why I'm now in bed at such an early hour.

Sleeping, not sleigh. Fucking tablet and autocorrect!

She's pretty cute and has held up nicely. She's younger than I am, but not a great deal younger. Hmm... I'll get permission and post a pic for you sometime. She pretty much thinks you're all a bunch of degenerate Nazis, racists, and Nazi racists. (That's actually not something that I can really argue with - 'cause quite a few users are. So, she does win that point.)
