She is not acting in self-defense, but ยง34 applies
Accidental thought - The mother often is actually acting in self-defense. The fetus is not in the position to do anything legal or illegal, but by mere existence it affects fate of its mother (host organism), both in practical terms and sometimes even in the form of actual threat to her life - for example when mother's body can't survive bearing the child. Another shade of gray: A fetus developing inside a rape victim is basically going to ruin life of an individual who already is traumatized, so getting rid of it is a form of self-defense. It does sound terrible, but in such a situation the fetus can be regarded as a parasite.
