I currently browse fewer subverses than I do subreddits. This is just because I'd collected a lot of subreddits over years, but haven't gotten the chance to find quite as many verses yet.

I like the tool that voat gives you to find subverses... This was what you had to do when you first registered.. It helped me find a bunch that I would have normally not thought of, and also showed me several family ones like: geopolitics, science, technology, askvoat, etc..

Not only do I browse more subverses, but I actually contribute. I never wanted to at Reddit, but I genuinely enjoy contributing on Voat.

I feel the same about Voat. Commenting here feels a lot better than reddit where I would feel bad whenever someone replied to my posts. Maybe as the site grows some of that will change, but for now the majority of people here are friendly and can engage in discourse without calling OP names.

Whenever I posted something on reddit I was always worried about the potential backlash...

I think I made one comment about how I enjoy casual entomology and I got loads of downvotes and several rather nasty comments.

It definitely feels different over here!

Same here it took me a really long time to post on reddit. I was still always a bit worried about backlash but got used to it and didn't care. Here not so much but that might be because I am already comfortable. I think the smaller size right now help a bit too.

Yeah a lot of times I would write up a post. But not submit it because of the crazy down votes in some subreddits. It made me hesitate to contribute.

But here people can't just down voat at will, and upvoates hold more weight as they're limited. People save them, and this helps good content to shine.
