I used to do the same thing with a felt tip pen and sign boobs, pics or whatever. I always laughed when people wanted an autograph or a photo, but hey, whatever. Even if I were famous I'd still be a regular guy. I'd probably go and hang out with fans at their place just because I think its interesting to see how people are. I mean, I have after gigs

Free drugs, booze, and sex! It's really the only perk. The pay is generally pretty shitty, once you count the hours invested.
I've had the good fortune to play some sizable shows and play with some pretty good bands. But, I'm never gonna be famous for music. I've opened for J. Geils, played on stage with Susan Tedeschi, and fucked around in a studio with Noel Paul Stookey. I suppose those would be the closest I've come to fame. I have no idea what motivates people to want your autograph.
Now... I have been in a band that had a dedicated group of followers. Calling them groupies is a a bit of a stretch. Those folks are pretty fucking awesome, however. They are the kinds of people who will drive 200 miles to see you play. They may even help load gear! Those guys are awesome. Yes, yes I will give them free shirts and merch. No, no I am not going to make the mistake of letting them come up on stage again. Lesson learned.

Yeah being a musician isn't going to make most of us rich. There's been times when we made bank, though. We've had a couple handfuls of peeps follow us and they'd tell us that. I started recognizing their faces and always took care of them and gave them perks. The sex was crazy. We played during a many wet T-shirt contest night and panty dance competition. Good times. I never brought anyone on stage but the singer did and he had good taste. Our roadies were just close friends who just wanted to go where we go and party so that worked out. I wil lsay this, marriage changed all of us, and not for the better when it comes to music. After that nobody had time to do shit. Tensions start. Members change. Good talkin' to ya, man. Have a good one
