That was really nice. I can see why you liked it. Thanks for putting it up. I much prefer these versions over the record versions. I get the impression this is what he wanted to play like when you get the producer and record company out of the way. His vocal range and phrasing are really shown, instead of the more monotone on the records and most live clips I've seen. And keeping the harmonica to a minimum was nice. His harp playing is effective, but definitely not his best talent. I assume he wanted to show a side of his performing in a more critical venue, not being told what will sell more records or a huge crowd wanting to hear his songs just like what's on the records. I will be listening to this quite a few times. Do you happen to know who his backups were?
Sounds like a plan to me. It's surprisingly polished - I think it's his (damn it, gotta admit it again) best work. If it's not his "best" work, then I'm going to go with it's his most polished work.
