It's old enough now to know better but at 16 it's still young enough that I blame the parents. It's child abuse to allow this to happen.

Yes! My folks put me in running, tennis & ballet for good measure because kids eat crap when you're not looking

Agreed. Normally I'd be against wasting taxpayer money on someone's eating addiction, but that intervention would probably save a lot in the long run.

There are two children I personally know of that are neglected and suffer some degree of child abuse. They both come from seriously broken homes where at least one parent is a heroin addict. Both are girls, one 4 and one 7. The four year has been raised on junk food and wants to eat every second. The kid will even eat the disgusting jelly beans from the beanboozled game and likes them. The seven year old was having a snack with my five year old and kept asking if she could have it since the kid wasn't eating it right away. She is very jealous of what others have and will either try to steal it or lie and say it was given to her by the 5 year old. The four year old is not yet obese, but the seven year old is the size of a beach ball. Her family says "oh well, everyone in our family is overweight, isn't she cute?". I'm not sure basic nutrition intervention would help with some situations.

I babysat for a friends kid who took Ritilin. The pantry was stuffed with candy & processed crap which leads to ADD
