Here's a screenshotted version of the comment chain.
Just in case it's too hard to find the whale's comments.

Non-scale victory.
From what I've gleaned, it's just an acronym used by overweight people when they achieve a weight-loss related goal that isn't tied to a number on the scale.
So, like, fitting into an old dress, or not needing a belt extender on an airplane.
I found these comments on a Ketogenic subreddit. The subreddit caters to all information related to Ketosis, and I guess also doubles as a weight loss subreddit.

I had to google “virtue standing” and now I’m sad.

A BMI of 50 is astronomically high. So, a healthy person's BMI is between 18.5-24.99, anything over 24.99 is overweight. Anything over 29.99 is obese. Anything over 40 is Morbidly Obese. At a BMI of 50, she's Super Morbidly Obese, or Class 3 obesity.
At a BMI of 50, she probably has diabetes. She probably has high-blood pressure. It's estimate that nearly 220lbs on her, or 66%, of her mass is fat. With that much fat on her, doing daily activities is greatly hindered, however, she's also going to be much more muscular than your average 33 year old woman. Due to lugging around her massive body all day, her muscles will be naturally worked out even doing simple tasks like standing up.
Her TDEE is 2,700 calories -- roughly what a 23 year old, 7ft male would need to exist. She could justify eating that many calories if she were a 6'4 female bodybuilder, cutting to a weight of 180lbs. 2,700 calories is 60 McNuggets a day. That is roughly 17 deep fried Oreo cookies. That is 23lbs of cabbage, daily. That is 43lbs of lettuce, daily. She could fast for, roughly, 285 days before her body ran out of fuel. If she loses 2lbs a week (what is recommended by the CDC) she will need to diet for 83 weeks straight -- or 1 year and 6 months.

How did you calculate everything in that last paragraph? Is there a site for that?

“I don't see anyone saying this shit when it comes to people smoking or doing any of a number of other things that could lead to them having health problems.”
Bullcrap. Our society has no problem shaming and taxing the heck out of smokers, which is great and has drastically reduced the number of smokers in the last 2 decades. We really need to start doing the same with fats or our society will be doomed. Sadly it is probably too late but one can dream.

But if your non-scale victory was weighing less than someone, that literally was a scale victory? It is based on weight i.e. the scale? A non-scale victory is something like smaller pants because it's, you know, not dependent on a weight measurement. Fats are so dumb.

No one practicing Keto on reddit is doing it for endurance athletics, all of them on that sub are there trying to lose weight. They shouldn’t pretend that the outcome of what they’re doing isn’t to lose weight.
Personally, I don’t know any healthy weight individuals on a Keto diet. They’re all hams. What’s the point of pretending they aren’t doing it to unham?

I know one girl that’s doing keto to get rid of the last round of baby weight. She started keto at 140 lbs, and her goal is around 110 lbs (where she was prepregnancy). She just doesn’t usually tell everyone she meets about it or spam it on her social media daily.
Maybe that’s the difference? Humans don’t need to seek constant validation for making tiny steps, unlike hams.
