Yokoi graduated from Doshisha University with a degree in electronics. He was first hired by Nintendo in 1965 to maintain the assembly-line machines used to manufacture its Hanafuda cards.
Why do people on the internet lie.

Janitors with microelectronics as a hobby are pretty common. Just start some small talk next time you see one.

I’m not sure if the cleaning lady here knows what microelectronics are.
Either way, this guy was never a janitor or a ‘maintenance’ man. He’s a college graduate who got hired by Nintendo, and worked his way up.
Its not uncommon for an early game developing company, to take ideas from employees. I know Sierra used people from accounting for voice work in some of their games. Obviously this guy went even farther, but lieing about his origins with the company doesn’t do anything for his story.
