Because being a victim is no longer shameful but empowering.

Hence the demand for hate crimes out stripping the supply.

We need to foster a culture of excellence and achievement, and the dregs of society -- the freaks, the queers, the pussys, the retards, the criminals, the perverts -- need to be pushed out to the fringes where they belong. We need a strong resurgence of Christianity, but a militant, masculine brand of Christianity that is less concerned with turning the other cheek and more concerned with righteousness and judgment. If we don't do this, we are done.

I'm sorry to say that I don't think there is enough will to do these things, so I believe the West is finished. Of course it won't vanish into thin air ... it will just continue to decay and devolve and regress with more lawlessness, more corruption, more perversion, until Islam takes it over and does away with all personal freedoms and begins a new Dark Age of ignorance, superstition, and poverty for all.

victims of cyberbullying were 12 times more likely to cyberbully themselves.

What an odd statement, if they are the perpetrators of their own bullying then they are not victims of it. Such a culture of victim-hood its become worse than a joke.

Could be the ones who have been bullied have gotten a taste of how much support and sympathy they get. When that dries up, they recreate the original incident to get more support and sympathy.

yea possible, or they are immersed in a culture of victim-hood already and see it as acceptable because everyone's is getting victim points and they don't seem to be which makes them scratch their heads with cognitive dissonance. Then the justification i.e. "by any means necessary" "The ends justify the means" ....

Victimhood is the new currency in society.

Something to that effect was written the last time I saw an article on the subject.

Technology is helping to streamline the act of hoaxing hate crimes. Now you don't even need to buy a can of paint and ruin a perfectly good dorm wall with a backwards swastika.

TL;DR: Study found that ~6% of teens bully themselves online. They'll send anonymous hateful messages to themselves and then publicly respond. It's the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot privately, so you can get public sympathy.

Also, the mentally disabled are 3x more likely to do this:

Researchers are calling this behavior "digital self-harm." Teens who identified as non-heterosexual were three times more likely to bully themselves online, while victims of cyberbullying were 12 times more likely to cyberbully themselves.

My children are home schooled.

A wise decision.
