The problem is that there are no repercussions for their behavior. If instead of helping the person who didn't bring the paperwork they were told to, that person should be dropped in priority to "only if you have free time" status. Same if you miss an appointment and don't call in advance, or whatever else. In the real world you would be charged for these things; in the "everything is free fo me" world there also needs to be consequences.

When I go to a lawyer and it is costing me hundreds of dollars per hour, I do every fucking thing in my power to make their job quicker.

Yep.

It's not like the "feed the children" campaign commercials, where outstretched hands grasp at hope and a second chance. These are people (most of them) who are suffering the costs of their own foolish choices. Many of them want that meal, that break, that shot of money so they can carry on in the ways they know: the same ways that brought them into their predicament. Most of them want it without advice, without assessment or persuasion to abandon their destructive paths. They are trapped in the pit they dug for themselves, and to rescue them from THAT often means to strike at the heart of how they interpret their world and how they view themselves in it. Seems a funny thing, but the core of it is Pride. Once that is broken and set to a more proper foundation, the game is back on the winning side.

"Libtards," as we call them, mostly don't understand or acknowledge this factor because much of their philosophy revolves around a belief that the cause of poverty and destitution is about the "Haves" oppression of the "Have-Nots" or Class Warfare. It's rarely the fault of the crack addict that they're addicted and reckless with their lives. It's not the unwed mother's fault that she got pregnant from unprotected sex with the local 'bad boy'.

The "loony bin" doesn't exist anymore, so the truly fucked up minds out there are not going to be separated from downtown life in the city. Those eventually go and populate prisons when they do something bad enough.
