Diseases can be cured. There's no cure for homosexuality just as there's no "cure" for being straight.

It's more of a genetic defect.

I think it's partly genetic but the surrounding environment also plays a vital role, especially during the childhood years.

I can see how it would play a role in eroding gender roles, normalizing homosexual attraction and a-typical sexual behaviour in general.

Will that increase the number of people that report that they are homosexual? Of course, by uncovering previously underreported figures, but I don't see it altering the biology of a person to the extent that they will develop homosexual biological urges and attractions.

The LGBT advocacy group Torino Pride brought the accusation of defamation against Dr. De Mari, alleging that she had effectively defamed the character of gays by declaring homosexuality to be an illness.

After months of deliberation, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has ruled that the statements by the 64-year-old doctor and author did not constitute defamation because of the impossibility of identifying the individuals who would have possibly suffered injury from the claim.

In her defense, Dr. De Mari said that homosexuality is clearly not a normal condition, while also citing her own expertise in the matter.

How weak must a person be to be insulted by comments made about their sexuality. How shallow must a person be to think that sexuality is that important a driving factor as to define their existence.
