This has to come down to local politics. Either someone didn't like her grandfather or they are friends of the complaining neighbor or something. This is total bullshit. The board members who voted against it should be tarred, feathered and carried out of town on rails.

They say over and over again that it was the former building inspectors fault. Sue him for all costs involved plus add some for your time and get on with your lives. I know it isnt that easy but it should be.

Landscaping.

  1. Create a mound between the street and the closest corner of the foundation approximately 3 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and as long as the offending portion of the foundation.

  2. Call the city back out to remeasure claiming it was measured incorrectly the first time.

  3. When the inspector breaks out his rolling measuring wheel, any point measured from the street to the foundation will now be 7 feet further from the road making the property compliant.

  4. Apply for a new permit.
