It is called a brain drain. They are saving on humans and that will give a short period where they can do more with less. However it also means that the company deteriorates from within to a point where they have lost all the people that can save the company from imminent collapse.

I actual discovered one developer that actually still likes Microsoft. I used to have known a period where 9 out of 10 developers liked Microsoft, nowadays it is less that 1 on 10.

Ironically HP works the same way. IT used to be people were proud to work at HP. Now you'll be lucky to find someone not looking for a job on the side, especially with their merger crap (HP,HPE, DXC, EDS, CSC, ES, Compaq, Vencore, Keystone, etc, etc) they're pulling. It's so confusing and volatile , it becomes hard to put down the company name on the resume, do you use HP? HPE? New company name?
