I find this extremely doubtful. This is basically saying a new species popped up overnight, out of nowhere. You had interspecies mingling which produced viable hybrid offspring and suddenly that's a new species? What about bottlenecking and inbreeding? You seriously think a whole new species starts off as a single "litter" of young from a hybrid pairing and it just balloons from there? If there were as few as 40 humans left on the planet, our species would fucking go extinct. Explain to me how these sexually reproducing birds are somehow immune to this.

The offspring were also reproductively isolated because their song, which is used to attract mates, was unusual and failed to attract females from the resident species. The offspring also differed from the resident species in beak size and shape, which is a major cue for mate choice. As a result, the offspring mated with members of their own lineage, strengthening the development of the new species.

Inbreeding is now "strengthening the development of new species?" So you wouldn't be able to consider these strange and contrasting features as genetic defects or anything right? Their songs don't attract the indigenous birds, so they mate with their fellow brothers and sisters, and we're simply meant to say "oh hey yeah, new species, this is how it happens!" There are a fuck ton of unanswered questions to such a bold claim here. Methinks someone somewhere is trying to make a big deal out of something that isn't.

Consider my feathers ruffled.

Fascinating. Imagine a condition that would make its legs longer.

Says domestication, the genetic changing so that animals are less violent can take place in 10 generations. They mention research that attributes domestication to fewer embryonic cells that form adrenal glans, which provide fight or flight response. The same cells form bone and cartilage, so as domestication occurs, the animals have weaker bones and floppy ears. It is also associated with looking more child-like appearance. They even touch on talking about differences in humans, that humans would domesticate themselves by living in communities where aggression would be punished and close bonds with friends would be more important than brute strength for survival/child rearing.

Exactly what I was thinking. This is like calling a mulatto kid a "new species." Something tells me they're basically fighting for journal visibility.

How is it science recognizes separate and distinct species of birds but when it comes to humans we are supposed to accept we're all the same?

Science doesn't say that. Loons do.

don't you know? evolution and gravity are just scientific theories, they are not scientific facts.

Evolution is a very well supported theory though. Gravity is something we really know fuckall about
