I've been here for a little bit and haven't seen any hate or fearmongering, which I'm counting as a miracle.

Edit: Hah 20 voats, now I can upvote you pleasant fucks with impunity!

Just got here this evening. It helps that the servers are actually working now.

I like it, I hope it keeps growing and takes off

Well, it's the best decision this week.

Overall, I'm really indifferent.

I think you've probably made more decision better than Voat. I mean it is a great place and all.

The most recent "best decision" I've made was to stop smoking. If you smoke cigarettes - seriously stop - in less than a month you will feel better an have more money.

I'm so glad I quit smoking. It's been just over 4 years for me and it didn't take me long to feel like a non-smoker mentally. It's not easy but it's worth it. Good luck to anyone that's trying.

It worked for me, used to smoke a pack a day then just stopped. After I made it past a few months cigarettes were just disgusting to me, although I still have a few when I'm drunk sometimes though.

It's not easy. i had to get MAD . I was broke, chest pains had started and I was fucking done. https://slimgur.com/image/Wy1

I held onto that anger for a while before it got easier. thankfully cigarettes started smelling unbearable a couple weeks in. I smoked a lot of weed which helped, too.

See, everyone told me as long as I make over the 3 day hump, I'll be just fine. I call bullshit. I can stop smoking cold- turkey and be just fine for quite a while. Sometimes it's a week, sometimes it's a month, sometimes it's six months, but I always come back. It just takes one bad day and suddenly I have a whole pack when I just wanted one cigarette. It's so frustrating, but it always happens.

One of my best decisions in life was to never start. That's what all my smoker friends tell me anyway. Congrats on quitting!

I'm 27 and going back to school. Working on my associates! I just finished my first year, got all A's.

Beat me by 7 minutes, so I'll reply to your comment, and say YES INDEED it's the best thing I've done too. I'm 34 and making the transition from Electrician to Electrical Engineer. Every time I think "Man, I should have done this years ago!" I stop and remind myself that at least I'm not 44 and finally doing what I want.

Congrats on your marks, keep it up!

To any other folks thinking of going back to school - pick something you love and DO IT! Don't make me post the Shia Lebeouf video.

I started playing guitar in the summer of 7th grade. I'm 36 now. The worse things seem to get, the better my blues sounds.

I started learning music theory in high school

Years later I don't regret any of it.

And piano and clarinet.

Music in general.

Music is the greatest thing I do. I try to pick up any instrument I can, most recently the singing saw, but before that, guitar, bass, banjo, piano, sax. My next thing is gonna be a trumpet I think... Man I'm in debt

Singing saw! AWESOME. Most recently I learned to throat sing, and play hambone! I was doing didgeridoo before that. The further I go the more confident I become that the music is in me!

I made the switch from console to PC like 3 years ago. Best decision I've ever made hands down.

[–] Penis_Faggot 0 points 1 point (+1|-0) ago

Yeah I much prefer it to consoles. With steam machines coming out, there should be no need for consoles anymore with overpriced online and games.

It seriously revolutionized my gaming life. I have no idea how I played on anything else all these years.

I left the military after 10 years of service in 1999, about 7 years before the US economy slumped. In the 10 years between getting out and when I would have retired I became a very skilled commercial concrete worker and completed an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology (took 4 years of part time school)

My education and experience have propelled me ahead in my career compared to where I would be had I stayed Navy and got out in 2009 when work had dried up.

Seriously. Best decision I ever made.

Staying single until I meet someone worthwhile. Yes, I could probably be a bit more active in the pursuit but truth is right now I just don't care that much. After a couple of back-to-back disasters it just finally clicked, I don't have to do this unless I want to.
