Every large Enterprise I've consulted for had numerous "diversity hire" women (preferably black and female for a double-whammy) who literally knew jack shit about IT and existed purely to make sure the company filled it's government diversity quotas. Each and every one of these pieces of shit is taking a real job away from a hard-working American who will actually work for a living - and the most pathetic thing about it, is most of them actually think they are contributing as much, if not more, as their male counterparts. It's disgusting to observe.

I wish this weren't true because I do know a few decent geologists and engineers who are women, but in my industry filling diversity quotas is getting out of hand.

Here's an example without being too specific:

Black woman with a 4.0 in engineering from SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY (a school literally anyone can get a 4.0 from) was hired into the largest Exploration & Production Oil company in my city. As part of the training all engineers have to do a field assignment which means 2 weeks on a drilling platform or drillship and 2 weeks at home. She kept postponing her field training and when the company finally insisted she just... didn't go. She never went offshore and just stayed at home the whole time. The rig foreman assumed she had successfully postponed her field assignment and the office managers thought she was doing it. It took them SIX MONTHS TO FIRE HER because they didn't want to fire a black woman, even though she literally wasn't going to work.

After she was finally fired a lot of the woman in the Diversity Group were angry because a black woman was fired - she was going thru a bad divorce, ya know?

Like holy shit leave that at the door. If Bob, Steve or John were going thru a divorce, no one would think twice about firing him.

I'm sick of hearing about the poor oppressed women in oil and gas - you make 6 figures for planning networking events as an "engineer," DO NOT FUCKING TELL ME how oppressed you are.

Bob, Steve and John are all supporting wives and kids and you're all single working women - so do the women they have at home they are supporting not matter?

Lol I work in oil too and have observed similar trends with the women Geo's and engineers. We have a ton.

Hit the nail on the head brother. Feels before skills is the MO for these places except men

That's definitely one thing. They pick colors and get credit for building entire databases and coding services and good design and whatever else goes correctly and is getting positive attention

But green is a good color for a database #sostrong

I'm also in the tech industry.

The position I'm in now I've worked at for about 5 years. As of about a half year ago, we hired our first woman. She's junior, but doing a fine job. A few days ago, we just interviewed our third woman ever. We'll likely hire her if we can. We're a very rapidly growing business with dozens of devs and ops.

My previous job was at one of those giganto multi-billion-dollar international conglomos. (Although unlike some conglomos, they did at least manufacture and sell real products.) Out of scores and scores of devs and ops from all around the world, from every continent with an above-freezing temperature, I only knew of three women, and one of them was complete deadwood.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

OP is telling a truth.

I run a hiring firm.

I'm told to hire women "past experience does not matter"

Surprisingly though, it's hard to find a woman even with little requirments.

I can't believe the economy hasn't toppled due to inefficiencies like this alone... What gives?

My experience isn't so bad. Work with a lot of people, very few women in tech roles but all seem to be as competent as their peers. There was recently what seemed to be a racial diversity hire and it was straight retarded. Didn't even make it through training. My mind was blown that they made it through interviews... but yeah the short and sweet of my dept is very few women and they are basically all legit.

Lots of women do agile management.

Big corps ... Budget out 10 months for a web application that a solo free lancer could probably wrap up all aspects in 4-5. Crazy how you need about 20 people to do the same job and longer ...

Just 2 of these jobs ... I probably could net 1 million. Fuck :-(

Ever consider going freelance?

I also work in tech, there are no female techs at the company, but the office workers are mostly female and honestly they do a decent job, but I wouldn't dump a tech problem on them and expect them to solve it.
