As a kid in church that song always creeped me out.

The tradition is more significant than anyone offended by a Christian song in remembrance of all who served. Why remember those who served in a hundreds of year old insitution if you do not continue those old traditions?

Also, why can't they sing both?

Whatever people think of religion, one must admit that Christianity is the foundation, or one of the main foundation stone, upon which the European identity is built. Remove Christianity and you will wipe out the European identity. It is a culture thing.

The Western society is humbly dismantling itself. It has lost the will to live.

Thanks. Me too. I used to play it on my tabletop organ as a child.
