Replace it with honest evaluations and possitive feedback. Whatever words you want to use, the goal is to improve yourself, not make yourself afraid to take risks.

It's an analogy, you're still the same person. My rule is that I only drink when I'm happy. It is fine to enjoy a drink alone when you're happy and relaxed, but it's usually better to drink with others. If you prefer, you could think of it like this, a friend would tell you that you shouldn't drink your problems away.

Yes mam! I am getting better, I am just conditioned by life experiences to somehow always take things upon myself and not be there for me. Lol, if that makes sense...

Quick to forgive others, but truly I have had to work hard on forgiving myself, not because I did awful things, but rather because I choose to be hard on myself.

Furthermore a balance between the two is best I think, but balancing that reality with tenderness is always a challenge.

I genuinely try to be consistent and I kid you not, what you see is what you get.

So sometimes being hard on yourself is good as it produces character, but unchecked and based on emotions and unforgiving or just being a perfectionist can cause hiccups for sure.
