I like western styled animation since they put a lot more character into the design and animation of their cartoons. They have exaggerated designs and animations while also using simple line art. If you look at the equivalent of anime in the west, you will see cartoons like Avatar: The Last Airbender that use more simplified designs to speed up the animation process. This also allows them to put more energy towards lip syncing and hand gestures.
In anime, they put so much detail in their drawings and it all looks the same and they still have stiff animations that only have the mouth move most of the time.
You can see the contrast between this western cartoon https://youtu.be/UBlPoOne-0I?t=16s
and these animes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv0hH8HgUm0
In the western cartoon, they talk with more hand gestures and their eyebrows move as their expressions change. In the animes, they are stiff and have less movement but more detailed artwork. Oh and anime has completely trash storytelling compared to western cartoons.

I think ppl will argue why you look at cartoons at all, as a grown-up. And the answer would be that anime Plot is a shitload better than Hollywood shit movies plot. Even vodka games are better nowadays for plot than any Hollywood on-screen movies. The last of us is not just an amazing plot. It's interactive! These games nowadays are interactive movies which is so much better. Most of them. Except for Massive Faliure Effect Andromeda. Just fuck that game and the morons who paid the retard programmers to make it.

Marvel and DC have decent animation, just look at the Batman Beyond Series that's as akin to Anime as anything I'd say. The difference is that adults tend not to watch kid shows in america, where as in Japan it's fairly normal. I personally would never watch the example Anime, I can already tell it's full of "Baka-Chan! Can we please help out Kimi-chaaaaan???"
Fuck. That. Shit. I want to see someones arm get ripped off and bleed to death

Not really. The target audience for these series is fairly small. They're just profitable.

Well, there are the first two episodes of Total Eclipse(the rest is pure garbage) and Schwartzmarken. Attack on Titan also comes to mind, but it's less so than the bug shows.

I suppose western animation isn't as concerned with how aesthetically pleasing their characters are than with the range of emotions they're capable of expressing with their design. Here is an example of how a character design can go south in that regard.

Because US animated TV shows aren't about the visual art, but the gag. We don't watch these shows because they look good we watch them because they are funny.
High quality, art animation costs a lot more money and a lot more time to produce... that, and most Americans aren't pedos like the japanese are so we don't want sexy little school girls in our tv shows.
