Loving yourself isn't enough. If it were, HAES would be true. You need to grok yourself.

Ha. The process of loving yourself, though!!!! What about that??? It's so complicated! In my head, I'm thinking something like this:

To have self-love, should I prioritize my mental health or my physical health more? Should I coddle myself to feel good or discipline myself to feel pride and have health? Should I reprimand and punish myself for my sins or should I forgive myself? What is a sin, anyways? Who decides? Who should I listen to? Instinct? A really old book? Some dude everybody else seems to be listening to? Why am I thinking so much about it? Why do I over-complicate things? What if something I want out of self-love hurts someone else I love?

That's not to shoot down the appropriately flaired good advice... (: I'm just amazed at how you put it so simply. It's not so simple for me. Did you always have self-love? If not, how did you find self-love? Now don't say it depends on who you are!!! Because we can find inspiration from others journeys, so I'd like to know about yours. (:

It's hard to put into words really. I can't tell you how to love yourself. Your answers are only inside of you. For me, however, it stems from simply trying to be a decent human being. I live by the golden rule of treating others well. Do all things that I spend time on to the best of my ability. I attempt to be a person that can look at himself in the mirror and not know shame. Pride in who I am, and where I come from. Trying to be a person that can live with themselves seems to me to be the ultimate goal of life.

Love yourself, and every kind of self help that you hope to achieve will just stem natually.
