Bullshit. Sometimes people really need the sleeve or something else. (I'm well aware of the risks/what can and cannot be eaten after the surgery.)

It has nothing to do with deserving or not deserving, and everything to do with no longer making futile efforts to solve an impossible problem with taxpayer money. How much can you lift? That questions becomes exceedingly important if you have to move the leg of an unconscious person after sedating them.

But it also points out the folly of having government involved at all. Lack of adequate coverage for any condition could happen due to unforeseen changes in politics. Health insurance was actually not broken, but Obamacare was hell bent on "fixing" it so it could fail and be replaced by the government. In an open insurance market, fat people could get insurance to cover themselves, they'd just need to pay more for it. The same goes for any coverage.
