These folks will likely be just fine. What with start-ups galore and several other tech opportunities there really is not much of a reason to fret. The only people I'd worry about are those who've let age get the best of them and have gotten a bit to comfortable in their positions.

It's a good thing there are so many other tech companies in the area now that will be eager to absorb any new capacity. This could actually be a big boon for software firms new to Seattle trying to grow their presence.

Sounds like we may also see some start ups come about soon. Some of the best companies in this area were started by old Microsoft employees -- Valve Software as just one example.
