I'm guessing that this law was seen as discriminatory toward the indigenous peoples.
As it says, we still have laws against drinking in public and reckless endangerment. We never needed this law in the first place.
The ridiculous part of this law is that you can have your driver’s license suspended and your car impounded for something unrelated to driving.
What if you don’t have a car or a license? Does that mean this law doesn’t apply to you?
A friend told me the same ridiculous penalties apply to fishing without a license or in restricted areas. You can have your driver’s license suspended.
Why did lawmakers start assuming everyone has a driver’s license and use it as a standard penalty instead of fining?
