I'm not sure having everyone disrespect the president by kneeling is the answer.

The point is to make those who disrespect the president look like the idiots they are. They already disrespect him, and we need to make normal Americans see how crazy they truly are.

Soooo confused. So, normal people will think those who intended to disrespect the president are actually respecting the president, yet in the disrespectors head, they know they no longer are disrespectful, but continue regardless?

In normal societies it's respectful to kneel before your king. The thought being that you show an act of submission towards them since it's difficult to attack from a kneeling stance before the king's protectors can retaliate from their normal standing stance.

As a non-American trying to figure this NFL stuff out, it was quite confusing. Kneeling is an act of submission before authority (in this case the principles of the anthem) so it wasn't clear why it was regarded as a defiant act.

Pretty much. As a proud Northerner, I will not bend the knee to anyone; not the false President, not the Witch-Queen, not even my President, Bernie Sanders, the President in the North. Slaves kneel. Free men and women do not.
Hell, I'll even stand up for the enemy country's national anthem, because that's the respectful thing to do when one is in a foreign land. I would hope that when the Northeast declares independence (again), anyone attending our sporting contests will show the same respect by standing for our anthem, whatever it ends up being.
