Yes, that's true, but the total freedom of randomly selecting a place on this earth and going there, isn't as safe as it use to be. You can't really deny that.

I use to always feel 'OKAY' asking someone about their culture, their heritage, but the way things are today, I make judgement calls instead of learning. It's a restrictive feeling. There tension where there once wasn't any.

I suppose I could do the math. Make a map of the Earth, devise a grid, and calculate a safety index based on homicide rate, population density and GDP per capita. Check it in 1900 vs today.... More likely picking a random point in a map will result in drowning.
Heritage isn't that important to most people anymore. Perhaps it's a good thing, tribalism is overrated. Individualism is more interesting in any case.
