$1700 is just the start. you'll need more money to campaign/get signatures/etc. whole system is geared towards allowing only the rich/wealthy to power.

the average person, the masses DO NOT HAVE ANY TRUE REPRESENTATIVES in the US government.

I've seen a good many candidates at local and state levels get elected with little more than sweat equity and community support. Most certainly not rich.

if you require a certain amount of money to run for government, then you simply have a system based on money, which stops being a democracy and becomes a Plutocracy, which US certainly IS

oh very interesting, thanks. big differences between states .... seems that Alabama, Arkansas, Washington and California are the most expensive for some reason
