No. No spectacle. That's for barbarians like the muslims.

"Normal" capital crimes: hanging or decapitation.

Things like treason, kiddy-fiddling, unrelenting corporate greed at the expense of others? Scaphism.

Stocks and tar-and-feather for small social stuff, gallows or guillotines for bigger stuff. I'm also in favor of lynch mobs.

The colosseum has been greatly mischaracterized by modern media as only a place of death. It was chiefly a place of entertainment. "The Colosseum....was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles such as mock sea battles....animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles, and dramas based on Classical mythology." The executions were like half-time shows, not the main reason it existed. It was for theatre, feats of strength, skills, etc.

If we did, we should pay-per-view that shit.. both on TV and over a streaming service.

If people are too stupid to learn a musical instrument or too awkward to learn to dance then having them whale away at each other till they bleed out is about as entertaining as watching them shit.

If those to be executed want to die that way, perhaps. I don't know in other cases.

The problem is that what's punishable by death is usually decision of a few.
