What about that tradition where everyone has too much eggnog at Christmas and then everyone starts yelling at everyone?
I mean, every family has that tradition. Don't pretend like yours doesn't.

I had an uncle like that. Only instead of a pyramid scheme, he just waited until we passed out after eating the Thanksgiving turkey. Then, we woke up on an unknown island and had to fight off 100 meter tall gorillas and dinosaurs to get back home.

Really working on building anew. My inlaws don't get along well with my mother and we all live in the same town so its hard. Since kids are back in school I've been talking with my nephew about the holidays, he was only three last year but he remembers breaking through the red and green streamers to get out of his room Christmas morning and his Christmas books. I raided the thrift store and his Christmas count down was opening a new book every night in december til Christmas morning. He had to pick one out of a big stack.

If this statue were made today it would be one fat dude passing another fat dude a giant dildo.

True and as a rule of thumb kids learn most from their fathers with a supportive mother to reinforce these good traditions and if you have none build some together.

Came here to say this! Just because it's not a family tradition yet, doesn't mean you can't start one.

Yip take what's good from the past and build on the future. :)

The best thing about that attitude is, you can make new traditions that are actually enjoyable. I mean, how many times have we had to paint Easter eggs... you know... just because.
In my household we've replaced Easter with "Bring daddy a beer day". It's pretty good. We still do the Egg hunt, but the eggs never got painted or never even left the chicken coop for that matter, so it's pretty much the same as every other day.
