Does this in any way impact you one way or another if that $4800 were to go down? Even if the amount were to go down to $300, that would still put you over $2000, and thus the accident would still be listed as "major." I might be missing something, but if that's the case, I wouldn't worry about going to all that trouble for something that doesn't benefit you in any way.

  2. They might have, they just started with this Merit Report thing and apparently it's from a third party. Are companies supposed to inform the policy holder of what they would pay out to the other guy?

I'm unfamiliar with "Merit Report." If it's a new policy, you should not -legally- be held to anything that occurred prior to it being initiated. It's very illegal to retro-activate a policy that would negatively impact a person's credit/finances/life/etc.
