Studies bear out the claim that AFR is an inherently racist technology. One reason is that black faces are over-represented in face databases to begin with, at least in the US: according to a study from Georgetown University’s Center for Privacy and Technology, in certain states, black Americans are arrested up to three times their representation in the population. A demographic’s over-representation in the database means that whatever error rate accrues to a facial recognition technology will be multiplied for that demographic.

Fuck these guys. You have two choices: Either compare the rate at which black people are arrested to the rate at which black people commit crimes you get arrested for, not the overall population, or do it across ALL demographics. Then let me know when you get to comparing male vs. female arrest rates and come to the conclusion that everything is much, much more biased against men than it is against blacks. Those are the only two choices. If you choose to complain about how hard things are for blacks when the same statistics make it clear it's much, much harder on men, you're just advertising how much of an anti-male bigot you are.

And yet Facebook seems to be able to tag me in images taken by randoms at parties.
