There are two authors that I really enjoy and they have too many series and comics to name so here are a few, Ravenor series, Gaunt's Ghosts and Eisenhorn by Dan Abnett. The other is the Gotrek and Felix series by William King and Nathan Long.

Off the top of my head, Harry Potter will always have a place in my heart. The second one is probably Beyonders :)

I read Susan Cooper's The Dark is Rising series about 25 years ago in sixth grade. It was my introduction to reading fantasy and I've never forgotten it. From there I traveled to Narnia and then Middle Earth. I've read all of those series multiple times and the characters feel like old friends. It all started with one great librarian.

From the very limited amount of book series I've listened to, my favorite is Enderverse.

I'd suggest you get the audiobooks. It has great voice acting, and the author thinks that's the best way to experience his books.

Night Angel - Brent Weeks. Avoided because of stupid covers but quite good

Farseer trilogy -Robin Hobb. Same type of story vain as above

Sheepfarmer's Daughter (Deed of Paksenarrion) - Elizabeth Moon

City of Ember. I think I have read the entire series at least 3 times

Since some of my favourites have already been mentioned, I'll add the Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovitch. It's quite a lot like The Dresden Files, in that it combines detective mysteries and the supernatural, only with a very British touch. Oh, and the main character is black without that fact being constantly part of the plot, I found that very refreshing.
