Alt-social network Gab booted from Google Play Store for hate speech | TechCrunch
'Apple rejected it from the App Store in June for similar reasons. '
'Gab, the conservative social network that has acted as a haven for people banned from the usual platforms, has been removed from the Google Play Store for violating the company’s hate speech policy, the company announced on Twitter. '
'After all, there’s plenty of hate speech on Twitter and YouTube , but those apps are still available despite a crackdown this week following the events in Charlottesville. '
'I’ve asked both Google and Gab for more details. '
'If that dog whistle isn’t loud enough, the investment page lists readers of Breitbart, Drudge, and Infowars as the target demographic. '
How many people actually used it? Personally, I'm only just starting to switch to alternative platforms now that everything is going to shit, and I think this may be true for many others. It's going to suck if they manage to shut down all the new platforms before the rest of us can make a proper exodus.

Yeah the self-segregation is a downside, but I think the platforms are just crystallizing that way as a result of culture. I would still be on reddit (there are more active users) if they hadn't banned half the subs I enjoyed. If our culture ever recovers to a point where we don't just permaban everyone to the left/right of us then maybe we can have those open forums back.

Labeling it "Alt-social network" to demonize it and pigeon hole it as alt-right.
They didn't advocate that, so Google is once again throwing around false accusations and lies.
