Both genetic distance and Bayesian-clustering methods showed significant genetic homogeneity between the two Muslim populations and East Asian populations, suggesting a common genetic ancestry. Our analysis found no evidence of substantial gene flow from Middle East or Europe into Dongxiang and Hui people during their Islamization.

In contrast, the Hui are counted as an ethnic minority only because it says so on their hukou (household-registration) documents and because centuries ago their ancestors came as missionaries and merchants from Persia, the Mongol courts or South-East Asia. Having intermarried with the Han for generations, they look and speak Chinese. They are scattered throughout China (see map); only one-fifth live in Ningxia. Unlike the Uighur and Tibetans, they have taken the path of assimilation.
Why do you even care? Lol. These are Chinese affairs. Apparently this group has assimilated fairly well with the Han. And they're genetically closer to the Han compared to any other group. I don't see a problem.

If they've assimilated so well, they wouldn't receive such harsh criticism from Han and other non-muslim majority Chinese.
Careful with that Beheading Axe, Koran, and Hijab, Yellow Eugene.
