You use alternatives until they don't work and then go back to google to get what you're after, but https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdWords is supposed to be 80% of their revenue.

I have never failed to get satisfactory results for any text search using Duck Duck Go. Google image search is still king, as far as I've seen so far, but I can't pretend for a second that Google has any substantive advantage in regular search.

I can't say the same, there are some regular searches I'd do to find some links I hadn't saved that wouldn't come up with others or if they did not on the first page of results, seen more off topic results, some of search engines are noticeably slower, and the auxiliary features better or there at all like definitions, unit conversions, google maps, image as you mentioned(excluding looking for White/European in which case jewgle throws a bunch of nigger pics at you.)

Because it sucks.

Don't mean to be picky, but the majority of other search engines are dumpster fires.

I don't want to use bing. Also duckduckgo.... I really hate to say this but it pretty much sucks. It never finds what I want.

We need a new search engine. Google was never really good enough either it just stopped there. The fact is that there is room for more search engines. In fact what would probably best is metatagging data into different search engines. So pornsearch, catsearch... You know all the stuff that matters on the internet.

Hm, my 30 second sampling of it felt pretty good. Thanks for mentioning this. I'm gonna keep my eye on it.

www.duckduckgo.com is also a very popular alternative without just giving Microsoft the search tracking monopoly instead of Google. What matters isn't what we use, what matters is that we're not using GOOGLE. The best case is that a bunch of different search engines get more popular - the same is true about all internet services. A basket of 5-10 popular image hosts, video sites, social media, email services, news outlets, search engines, etc, is the way to go.

Google's better most of the time, but DDG is best if you think you're not getting the full picture. Bing maps? Fucking best in my opinion, and Bing is just more snappy sometimes.

I'm not going to stop using Google unless I have a reason. I search up obscure shit that DDG can't figure out and Bing just goes full spaghetti on, Google's given me the obscure forum post from 1999 when I actually needed it rather than every time I didn't.

Microsoft fixes that and Bing's damn near perfect.

I already use Bing. Bing points give me a $5 Amazon gift card every month or so, so that's not bad either.

I gave up on Microsoft a long time ago. Quitting Google is not a valid reason to go back.
