The infographic mixes up some things. The US government had reported that there had been two incidents, one on August 2nd and the other on August 4th. The one on the 4th never happened. The one on the 2nd did actually happen. On that date the Maddox was being chased by a few north vietnamese patrol boats, they kept following after the Maddox fired warning shots, so the Maddox attacked them. It was originally reported that the north vietnamese had fired first so it would seemike the maddox was acting in self defence.

Germany invades Poland unprovoked!

Japan does a sneak attack against US at pearl harbor.

It's all lies to get us to join wars. People are too broke to want to fight on their own. They know a civil society where they negotiate freely is more beneficial to all parties involved over the long run. Not fighting to get your way like a fucking 5 year old.

Media and money. They move in. They sell it. When it causes societal issues they claim they are being persecuted.

I wish more people knew about this. Every time someone tells me the government wouldn't do something crazy I bring this up.

War profit. Vietnam was an easy target with few allies willing or able to defend it.

We only ever attack the poorest countries unilaterally because we know there will be much profit and very little risk

I think the US wanted to test out aircraft vs the soviets and to increase influence in the south china sea.

Because economic prospects were decent at the time. We didn't have a huge number of unemployed or poverty wage earners like during WW1 or WW2. It was very easy to be a hippy and work 4 months out of the year. Reganomics put an end to that.

But that doesn't say why, was it to install a (((Rothschild))) bank?
