Nobody should be encouraged to do anything. We should all be left alone to do what comes naturally to us.

We also need more plumbers, carpenters and electricians. We need to stop forcing kids to go to college that really are not suited for it and don't want to go. Jobs in the trades are good jobs and kids with interest in these area should be encouraged.

When someone has already shown up on campus and is now deciding a major it is not a bad thing to discourage them from bad decision and guild them to useful ones.

Women are capable of rational thought and deductive reasoning, yes.

But it takes a presence of mind and degree of effort that is not required of men. Because the rational and reasonable is not the woman's default factory setting. Men, on the other hand, are rational and spatially grounded by default.

What we need is more people to understand and accept this, and instead of trying to be something they are not, start finding ways to capitalize on their natural strengths, instead of inventing "social issues" for reasons.
